Optimization of CH4 wetland emissions in CTESSEL model using FLUXNET-CH4 dataset

Description of data:

  1. USAGE : notification showing if the site simulation has not been improved in single-site optimization (column 4), so that it was not included in multiple-site optimization (column 5)
  2. MAP
    • site location
    • site type according to FLUXNET-CH4 dataset classification
    • high/low vegetation type and its fraction according to CTESSEL configuration
  3. SIM/OBS time-series
    • obs F : CH4 emission measurements gap-filled using MDS approach (provided by FLUXNET-CH4)
    • obs OPT : CH4 emission measurements gap-filled using artificial neural net algorithm with parameters optimized across runs (provided by FLUXNET-CH4)
    • sim STD : CTESSEL simulation with Q10=2 and FWET=1, normalized to fit OBS (scaling factor is shown in brackets)
    • sim Q10 : CTESSEL simulation with Q10 optimized globally (see here) and FWET=1, normalized to fit OBS (scaling factor is shown in brackets)
    • sim FWET : CTESSEL simulation with Q10=2 and FWET taken from global data (calibrated with GIEMS and Gumbricht), normalized to fit OBS (scaling factor is shown in brackets)
  4. Single-site optimization (FWET=1)
    • sim STD : prior CTESSEL simulation with Q10=2 and individual scaling factor adapted to fit OBS (shown in brackets)
    • sim SingleOpt : posterior CTESSEL simulation with Q10 individual per site and individual posterior scaling factor shown in brackets
  5. Multiple-site optimization (FWET=1)
    • sim STD : prior CTESSEL simulation with Q10=2 and global scaling factor equal to 0.005
    • sim MultiOpt : posterior CTESSEL simulation with Q10 individual per PFT and global posterior scaling factor shown in brackets
  6. Soil Temperature : CTESSEL simulation of the first layer soil temperature
  7. Heterotropic Respiration : CTESSEL simulation of the heterotropic respiration for low and high vegetation
  8. Wetland Extent Fraction : FWET climatology taken from global data (calibrated with GIEMS and Gumbricht)
